Some forty metres of white and gold with Guglielmi's ceiling frescoes overhead. It was the palace's ceremonial hall for courtly events, and it is still the room people stop walking in.
Maria Theresa's apartments
Part of the full Palace Ticket route. These are her private rooms rather than the state spaces, and they are where the palace stops feeling like a museum.
The Chinese cabinets
Two small cabinets, one round and one oval, decorated with lacquer panels and porcelain from China and Japan. Easy to hurry past and worth not hurrying past.
Franz Joseph's rooms
Spartan next to everything around them. The emperor rose very early and washed in cold water at a plain washstand; the contrast with the Rococo next door is the point.
