With children
Schönbrunn with children
The maze, the zoo, the children's museum and how much palace a child will tolerate.

The Imperial Tour's forty minutes is about the ceiling for most younger children. The Grand Tour is long, quiet and rope-lined, which is a difficult combination.
The maze and labyrinth
Separately ticketed, outdoors, and the part children actually remember. It sits between the parterre and the zoo, so it slots neatly into a garden afternoon.
The children's museum
Housed in the palace itself, with dressing-up and hands-on rooms covering court life. It works as a substitute for the state-room tour rather than an addition to it.
The zoo
Oldest in the world and genuinely good, but a half-day. Trying to add it to a palace tour and the Gloriette in one visit is how the day falls apart.
